🇭🇺 RABB WINS THRILLER TO CLAIM MEN'S SABRE GOLD AT ORLEANS GP

ORLEANS, FRANCE - 7 DECEMBER 2025

Hungary's Krisztian Rabb, 24, secured his second career Grand Prix title, winning the Men's Sabre event at the Orleans Grand Prix, the first of the season. The World Number 13 edged out Germany's Frederic Kindler in a dramatic final bout, with a score of 15-14.

Kindler (GER), 27, claimed the silver medal, marking his first Grand Prix medal after successfully navigating the tough qualification rounds. The 2025 European Championship bronze medallist had an outstanding run to the final, upsetting several high-ranked fencers along the way.

The bronze medals were shared by two strong performers: Ahmed Hesham of Egypt and home favourite Sebastien Patrice of France. Nineteen-year-old Hesham (EGY), the World Number 8, continued his fine recent form by securing his first Grand Prix medal, which included a major victory over World Number 1 and reigning World Champion Bazadze (GEO). World Number 4 Patrice (FRA), 25, secured his third successive bronze medal at this event, adding to his podium finish at the Algiers World Cup season opener.

Path to the Podium

Rabb's path to the title was formidable. He delivered a key victory over Paris 2024 Olympic silver medallist and World Number 5 Fares Ferjani (TUN) 15-12 in the quarter-finals. He then comfortably defeated bronze medallist Hesham 15-8 in the semi-final before claiming the gold with the tight 15-14 score against Kindler.

Kindler's impressive run to the final included fighting through the qualification stages and then eliminating the home favourite and bronze medallist Patrice 15-13 in a fiercely contested semi-final.

Patrice's bronze medal run included consistent victories, such as a 15-11 win over Dragomir (ROU) in the quarter-finals. Hesham's route saw him defeat World Number 1 and reigning World Champion Bazadze (GEO) 15-9 to set up his semi-final clash with Rabb.
