World number 16 Egypt put on an absolute clinic in fencing supremacy on the fourth day of the 24th African Fencing Championships, successfully defending their women's team foil continental crown. The top-seeded Egyptian quartet—comprising Fatma Wahba, individual bronze medallist Noha Hany, newly crowned individual champion Sara Amr Hossny, and Lojain Khaled—proved completely untouchable throughout the four-team tournament, routing Algeria 45–12 in a dominant gold medal match.

The masterclass preserves Egypt's status as the undisputed heavyweight force in African foil.

Algeria upgraded their previous continental performance to take home a well-deserved silver medal, while Senegal captured the bronze to leave host nation Ivory Coast in fourth place.

Path to the Podium

Egypt (World number 16) operated as a perfectly oiled machine, systematically suffocating their opponents' offenses all day. They opened their gold medal pursuit in the semi-finals by ruthlessly dispatching Senegal 45–15. In the final against Algeria, the Egyptian unit left absolutely no room for drama. They dictated the tempo from the opening phrase to build a commanding 15–6 lead after the first three legs, expanded that cushion to an overwhelming 30–9 after six bouts, and comfortably cantered through the final rotation to secure the gold.

Algeria (World number 30) secured an excellent silver medal, showing a significant step forward from their bronze-medal finish at the previous championships. The tactical roster—featuring Charline Boukhelifa, Malek Tantast, Yasmine Tantast, and Sonia Zeboudj—booked their place in the championship final by completely overwhelming host nation Ivory Coast with a clinical 45–13 semi-final blowout.

Senegal (World number 102) bounced back from their heavy semi-final loss to capture the bronze medal with a brilliantly disciplined performance. The trio of Safietou Coly, Awa Diedhiou, and Aminata Sabaly took control of the third-place play-off against the hosts from the very first relay, building a swift 15–5 lead after three legs. Though the Ivorians attempted multiple mini-rallies, the Senegalese combination consistently pushed back, widening the gap to 30–15 after six legs before closing out a comfortable 45–28 victory.

Ivory Coast (World number 101) had to settle for a frustrating fourth-place finish on home soil. Despite boasting individual silver medallist Maxine Esteban alongside Grace Ahouma, Enni Koffi, and Bintou Soro, the host nation struggled to find their collective rhythm in the semi-finals against Algeria. In the bronze medal match, they showed flashes of brilliance—including a spirited 9–5 leg from Koffi over Diedhiou in the seventh round—but the early deficit proved too steep to climb.
